About SOHA

The School of Healing Arts is a California massage therapy school offering State-Certified Vocational Training programs in massage, holistic health and whole foods nutritional counseling. Since 1989, the school has provided students with an exceptional education in massage modalities and holistic wellness, together with a supportive learning community and unbeatable oceanfront location. Programs at the School of Healing Arts prepare graduates for successful careers in the swiftly growing fields of  massage and holistic health, and comply with both city and state certification and licensing regulations.

State Certification

The School of Healing Arts has received institutional and course approvals from the state of California through the Bureau for Private Post Secondary and Vocational Education (BPPVE). We are in compliance with state standards to operate our school. Our programs are recognized as State Certified Occupational Titles, and State Certified Vocational Training. The Massage Technician, Zen-Touch™ Technician, Massage Practitioner, and Holistic Health Practitioner programs meet or exceed San Diego massage licensing requirements. The Whole Foods Nutritional Counselor and Mind Body Hypnotherapist certifications provide students with practical training in two of the fastest growing fields of holistic health.

Other Approvals/Credentials

We have approvals from the American Board of Hypnotherapy, and Vocational Rehabilitation. The School of Healing Arts is also approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) as a continuing education provider under category A. Students of Seymour Koblin’s Zen-Touch™ Practitioner program are eligible for national certification with the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). We are authorized to enroll and accept M-1 status non-immigrant students. We are approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider number 6436 for 30 contact hours and have approval through the Department of Veterans Affairs to train veterans and eligible persons.

Affiliations

Due to the wide variety of course options we offer, we have chosen to support the most versatile national organizations in the country —  ABMP, AMTA and AOBTA.  Students who wish to join the AMTA or any  reputable  national organization may do so by  answering applications, paying fees and sometimes taking entrance exams, which all our standards of education easily comply with and prepare them for. The quality education provided at the School of Healing Arts allows students to practice anywhere they choose. Belonging to an organization is an option of the student and not required for licensing.

Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP) is a membership organization serving the massage, bodywork, somatic and esthetic professions. National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine

It is a considerable professional achievement to earn the designation “Diplomate in Acupuncture (NCCAOM).” NCCAOM Certification indicates to employers, patients, and peers that one has met national standards for the safe and competent practice of acupuncture as defined by the profession. National board certification in acupuncture has been the mark of excellence in acupuncture since the inception of the Commission.
